Calcium carbonate, or CaCO3, comprises more than 4% of the earth’s crust and is found throughout the world.  Its most common natural forms are chalk, limestone, and marble, produced by the sedimentation of the shells of small fossilized snails, shellfish, and coral over millions of years.

Ground calcium carbonate or GCC is another primary type of industrial product. As the name implies, it involves crushing and processing limestone to create a powdery-like form graded by size and other properties. It is used for many different industrial and pharmaceutical applications.

Calcium carbonate, used for industrial purposes, is extracted by mining or quarrying. Pure calcium carbonate is also prepared by passing carbon dioxide into a solution of calcium hydroxide. Calcium carbonate derived from the mixture, forming a grade of product is called “Precipitated Calcium Carbonate,” or PCC. PCC has a very fine and controlled particle size, on the order of 2 microns in diameter.

The other industrially used calcium carbonate coated with stearate, is known as Activated calcium carbonate or ACC.

Usage across Industries




Pharmaceuticals and health care:

Calcium Carbonate processed at HTMC finds its application as an excipient used for delivering effective dietary calcium supplement, antacid, phosphate binder, or base material for medicinal tablets.

Respirable precipitated calcium carbonate is now being used in diapers and medicinal gloves.

PCC at HTMC is designed to cater to the toothpaste industries abundantly with all manufacturing practices in accordance with GMP,FDA,FSSAI and other accreditations.

Food Production:

Calcium carbonate from HTMC is renowned for its use as a firming agent in many canned and bottled vegetable products and is a strong additive for foods.

Calcium carbonate, is the purest form of mineral that is added to increase the calcium content in foods.

Pipes and PVC’s:

The use of ACC, activated calcium carbonate, i.e. coated with stearate, developed at HTMC  has found its enormous application in unplasticized polyvinyl chloride, drainpipes and window profile.

Calcium Carbonate produced at HTMC is used in PVC cables. They are used for loadings of up to 70 to improve mechanical properties and its durability in wire cables.


Calcium Carbonate from HTMC has wide applications in ceramic glaze,as whiting agent and is a common ingredient for many glazes in its white powdered form.

Opacifier and Extender:

Nano PCC, engineered at HTMC is being used as an opacifier in the glass sheen and metallic components and finds its heavy application in steel machinery.


As a reinforcing filler, Calcium Carbonate grinded at HTMC improves strength as well as whiteness and imparts stiffness to non-cured rubber product maintaining durability and hardness of shoe souls.


Calcium Carbonate developed at HTMC, improves the heat resistance, size stability, and hardness of the base material. As a filler it is still used in the greatest quantity in the rubber industry. The Calcium Carbonate from HTMC increases tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and tear resistance even more than what vulcanization does.

Paints and Coatings and Putty: 

Paints and Coatings industries use Calcium Carbonate from HTMC as both filler and extender. Due to its special white colour, it is also used as a coating pigment. Calcium carbonate developed at HTMC is also used widely as a filler in adhesives, and sealants. Used as multifunctional fillers that improve whiteness, opacity and matting, they make ideal replacements for titanium dioxide, as a cost-effective option.

Calcium Carbonate developed at HTMC  is also mixed with putty in setting stained-glass windows. It is also used as a resistant to prevent glass from sticking to kiln shelves, when firing glazes and paints at high temperature.


Calcium carbonate from HTMC is the most widely used mineral in paper manufacturing. Valued for its high brightness and light scattering characteristics, it’s used as a filler to make bright opaque paper. The mineral allows the paper to be bright, smooth, and glossy in appearance. Our PCC has a lighter and uniform particle size, that enhance its texture and appearance.
